FOOD AND CULTURE TOUR
The first of its kind in the Sultanate, this tour immerses visitors in popular Omani culture through a series of gourmet stops. The experience begins with a traditional breakfast at the Kwareg restaurant in old Nizwa, featuring Omani pancakes with honey. From here, the tour continues either on foot to the Nizwa souk, or by 4x4 to the village of Misfah, where the stroll through the oasis is an opportunity to discover a magnificent palm grove and talk about the different types of dates. The ride is punctuated by a break to taste Omani coffee (with cardamom) accompanied by the famous halwa and, of course, dates. The tour continues past Misfah towards Al Hamra to the Reem Alyaman restaurant. Here, the aim is to sample the country's signature dish, Shuwa, while discussing its recipe and history. In the afternoon, a stop at the Daris falaj is followed by explanations of the falaj's traditional irrigation system, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour ends with a visit to an Omani family, where there will be time to discuss culinary traditions and the local way of life. This cultural tour is organized for a minimum of 2 people and can be customized for groups. Ali, who initiated the project, is open to all proposals and suggestions. We appreciate the diversity of this gourmet tour, which allows us to discover culinary and cultural specialities, and offers the rare opportunity to enter into the heart of an Omani family.
