The best bars and cafés Nizwa

In the heart of the old town, behind the souks (potters' section, vendors of woven baskets, various handicrafts...), a bench right on the street, leaning against an old house, offers a pleasant drink break after haggling in the stores or wandering the alleys of ancient Nizwa. You enter the air-conditioned room to order a freshly squeezed juice, a hot or cold coffee (espresso, americano, latte, mocha...), a soft drink or a few chips. A high shelf around a tree doubles as a counter.

The hotel, located 20 km away from Nizwa, has 4 bars where groups of dancers sometimes perform in the evening. It is the only real "international" place in the area with the Intercity, closer to the city centre. A warm pub with a chic British atmosphere, the Al Wasit Bar offers a selection of cocktails and liqueurs, served to music. The place is nice for anightcap, but not very festive, perhaps prefer the hotel's pool bar or the Sports Bar for a drink while playing pool or table football.

Located in the middle of the restored part of the ramparts and right next to one of the main gates of old Nizwa, this little café is a marvel. On one side of the alleyway is the counter where you can order and take away a drink or an ice cream; on the other, a lounge where you can relax and, above all, a rooftop open-air terrace with an exceptional view of the ramparts, the palm trees and the Hajar mountains in the distance. It's a great place for contemplation! Run by young people, Anat is a successful marriage between the Nizwa of today and that of the past.

Although located on Nizwa's main tourist street, the one leading to the Fort, this café is a well-hidden little treasure. Established on the second floor, it doesn't have a street address. The entrance is via a staircase which, after a flight of steps, leads to a pretty, white, air-conditioned room with potted plants and natural decor. Make the effort to climb another floor to reach the rooftop, where the view of the Fort and the mosque is just magical! An oasis of freshness in Nizwa, the place offers a choice of cold drinks and pastries.

In the heart of the old town, this café is a must with its blue door framed by bunches of fuchsia flowers! With its girly decor, it's the perfect place to relax, quench your thirst and chat. Out of curiosity, we'll try the "signature drink", the Niz Drink: a super-chilled beverage made with lemon, saffron and rosewater, delicious! Inside, adorable air-conditioned rooms are spread over 2 floors, but weather permitting, we recommend the rooftop, surrounded by ancient houses and palm trees.
