Despite ancient ties with India, yoga did not have many followers in Armenia. Created in 2007, the very first yoga centre in the capital called Shoonsh (breathing in Armenian) offers meditation and yoga sessions, medicine and soft gymnastics as well as various massages. Not yet a real craze, but the amateurs are more and more numerous and are even putting themselves in the green, about thirty kilometers north of Yerevan, where the Inn Serenity hotel (www.inserennity.com) in the village of Aghts offers them a retreat facing the Arakadz.

The atmosphere, saturated with incense and music, is conducive to the practice of yoga and will help you to get rid of your stress.

Shoonch is a day spa located in Yerevan. It offers a range of services including massages, yoga and pilates classes. The spa is run by Linda Bashirians, who is also one of the qualified yoga instructors. Other qualified instructors, such as Lusine Hovhannisyan and Zarine Grigoryan, also offer yoga classes. For those who prefer pilates, Luci Martirosyan is a qualified instructor. Massages are provided by Vahe Danielyan and Lusine Davtyan, both qualified therapists.
