Located on the edge of the beach, the archaeological area houses the ruins of the ancient Greek Caulonia, founded by Crotone. Excavations have uncovered different strata of habitat, consisting of main streets (plateiai) parallel to the sea and by minor streets (stenopoi), perpendicular. The most representative housing is the Dragon House; it owes its name to its inner mosaic mosaic, which represents a dragon.
