In the locality of San Pasquale, archaeological excavations allowed the updating of a Roman villa along the coastal road that led to Reggio di Calabria (Via Popilia); this ensemble, used in the proto era until the century after J.C., was identified as the Statio di Scyle. Inside the building, the area of worship, with its decorated pavement, the Solomon knot and the seven-branch chandelier, was identified as a synagogue. This ensemble, unique in southern Italy, was built in the fourth century after J.C. and remained active until the 600 th century after J.C., before being definitively destroyed in a violent way towards F.C.
