ARCIVESCOVILE PALAZZO
The Archbishop's Palace houses the Diocesan Museum of Cosenza and the Picture Gallery.
Since 2013, the imposing archiepiscopal palace has been home to the Cosenza Diocesan Museum and Pinacoteca. The museum features a variety of 17th- and 18th-century paintings, including an Immaculate by Neapolitan painter Luca Giordano, and a rich treasure trove of liturgical objects, notably from the Aragonese period. But its most important piece is the Staurothèque, a reliquary cross, a masterpiece of Sicilian goldsmithery from the Norman period (12th century), blending Western and Muslim influences. It is said to have been donated by Frederick II of Swabia to mark the rededication of the Duomo.
