ARCIVESCOVILE PALAZZO

Since 2013, the imposing archiepiscopal palace has been home to the Cosenza Diocesan Museum and Pinacoteca. The museum features a variety of ^17th- and ^18th-century paintings, including an Immaculate by Neapolitan painter Luca Giordano, and a rich treasure trove of liturgical objects, notably from the Aragonese period. But its most important piece is the Staurothèque, a reliquary cross, a masterpiece of Sicilian goldsmithery from the Norman period (^12th century), blending Western and Muslim influences. It is said to have been donated by Frederick II of Swabia to mark the rededication of the Duomo.
