SANTUARIO SANTA MARIA DI PIERNO

This sanctuary is undoubtedly one of the most interesting monuments in the region. Founded by St. William of Vercelli in 1122 and completed between 1189 and 1197, it is a work of the master Sarolo and his brother Ruggero. The exterior of the building has kept its Romanesque configuration, while the interior, with three naves, was redesigned in the sixteenth century. It is a beautiful place of pilgrimage situated in the area of the state forest of Pierno, between the municipalities of Filiano, Bella and San Fele.
