Remarkable frescoes and an icon of the Madonna del Terremoto in a church with a gothic apse in Potenza.
The Franciscan church, erected in 1274, opens with a 15th century stone portal in Catalan style, whose wooden door leaves are carved with bas-reliefs. The single-nave interior has a Gothic apse and remains of frescoes depicting St. Francis and St. Clare (14th century) and the Martyrdom of St. Sebastian (16th century). The icon of the Madonna del Terremoto (Virgin of the Earthquake), in Byzantine style, dates back to the 13th century.
