Imposing fortress built by order of Charles V in 1539.

This imposing fortress was built by order of Charles V in 1539, on the site of the Norman castle of the Counts of Lecce (12th century). Completed in six years by Gian Giacomo dell'Acaya, it is a vast construction with a trapezoidal plan and is one of the most beautiful examples of military architecture in Puglia. It is possible to visit the underground galleries, the rooms on the first floor where archaeological material is exhibited, and the Torre Mozza, a medieval tower. The castle is also home to the Museo della Cartapesta (Museum of Paper-Mâché).

à voir
Ce lieu est un peu excentré et il y a peu de visiteur par rapport aux sites majeurs de la vieille ville! sinon le château est en rénovation et offre de beaux remparts et des constructions massives, il est agréable d'en faire le tour et de le parcourir en sont intérieur, ne mérite pas de le visiter avec ses pièces vides de tout!!

Lors de ma visite de Lecce, c'était un raccourci de passer par la cour du château pour pouvoir atteindre le centre ville. Cependant, je n'ai pas visité le château car le prix me semblait un peu cher par rapport à ce que le château proposait.

Très beau chateau avec une belle visite guidée. Bien sur ça reste un chateau, mais si on les aime ça vaut le détour. Le point fort un très bon centre d'accueil touristique.
