The oldest nature reserve in the country, a paradise for hikers. In the heart of the park are the Biogradska lake and five other lakes, dominated by the peaks of the Bjelasica massif and nicknamed the "Eyes of the Mountain". Listed since 1977 in the world network of UNESCO reserves, Biogradska gora is known for its exceptional floral wealth and alpine fauna: bears, deer, foxes, eagles, otters, owls. Finally, this park is characterized by one of the densest virgin forests in Europe, with trees reaching up to 50 m high. Hikes of all levels around the lakes, in the virgin forest or on the peaks.In the heart of the forest is the Biogradska Lake (Biogradsko jezero) at 1,094 m above sea level. The main gateway to the national park, this glacial lake is buried in abundant vegetation and dominated by the highest mountain peaks of the Bjelasica Massif, Mount Crna Glava (2,139 m), Mount Zekova Glava (2,117 m) and Mount Troglava (2,072 m). Five other such lakes are scattered in the park between 1,820 and 1,900 m above sea level (Lake Šiško, Malo Šiško, Malo Ursulovaco, Velicko Ursulovaco and Pešića).
