Travel Guide Moračnik Island (Морашник)

Last stop of your excursion between the islands of the lake of Skadar, this island shelters a monastery of the XVth century of the same name, built with defensive towers. Indeed, during the Ottoman attacks, the monks had to defend themselves alone at a time when no authority had the power. The church of St. Mother of God is also erected here, built between 1404 and 1417. It houses characteristic wall frescoes of medieval Serbian Orthodox art. From the old iconostasis have been preserved some remains. Like the island of Kom, the monastery and the site can be visited during excursions organized by local tour companies.
