The largest of the islands in Lake Skadar, very green and wild, Starčevo is home to a small monastery built during the reign of Djurdje I Balšić in the 1370s, under the suzerainty of the Nemanjić. The monastery church, with its three apses grouped in the shape of a cloverleaf, served as an example for the construction of other churches on the lake: the church of St. George in Beška and those on Moračnik Island and in Tophala. We will also visit the church built in 1440 by Jelena Balšić, the daughter of the great Serbian prince Lazar Hrebeljanović. Beautiful mixture of heritage and natural wealth, pretext for a beautiful afternoon walk.
