BATEAUX VERS MANAUS
Descent by ferry to enjoy wonderful sunrises and sunsets
From Tabatinga, you can reach Manaus by going down the Amazon River, in 3 or 4 days by ferry, or 36 hours by motor boat. The ferry trip is a good way to discover the life along the river, whose banks are moving away or getting closer, and to enjoy wonderful sunrises and sunsets! Meals are included, but it is advisable to bring water and food supplies, as what is served is not very exciting. The boats usually leave on Wednesdays and Saturdays, around 11am. Bring your own hammock (and ropes) and a good book or a game of cards. The boats can be crowded, but they become less crowded as they call. To organize your trip, go to the port of Tabatinga and buy your ticket preferably two days before departure, directly on the boat. Arrive 2 hours before departure to have a good place to install your hammock. It is also possible to go to Manaus by fast shuttle, usually on Saturday and Sunday. About 36 hours of travel. Meals included but bring water. The days and times of departure sometimes change, check with your hotel. Do not forget the stamp of exit from Colombia (at the airport of Leticia). For the formalities of entry into Brazil, you must go to the migration service of Tabatinga (in the main avenue, 3 km from the border, easily accessible by motorcycle cab). Finally, beware of the time difference, when it is 2pm in Leticia, it is already 3pm in Tabatinga...
