Hacienda with rooms furnished in a classic style for a return to the colonial era in Paipa
The Hacienda El Salitre dates from the 16th century. Originally a Jesuit convent, it was expropriated and sold to Agustin Justo de Medina, a wealthy Spaniard, who renovated the original house. In 1819, the hacienda served as headquarters for Bolívar's troops after the battle of Pantano de Vargas. In the courtyard there is a gigantic tree to which the Libertador tied his horse! The rooms are furnished in a classic style, for a return to the colonial era. At night, the house is lit from outside by torches hanging on the walls. Superb address.
