Baroque church located in Tunja, with a sober facade, with a richly decorated interior, a chapel of the Virgen del Rosario

Not far from the main square, this baroque church with a sober façade was built in 1568. Richly decorated inside, it is famous for its chapel of the Virgen del Rosario, located south of the central nave, which is a magnificent example of colonial Baroque architecture. Some people even call it the "Sistine Chapel of the New World"! We leave it to you to judge such an assessment, but it is true that the frescoes, paintings and altarpieces are superb. About fifteen carved wooden panels represent the Mysteries of the Rosary.
