The best known and most imposing church in the Finnish capital. From the top of its steps, one dominates the square and the port.
Built according to the plans of Carl Ludvig Engel, it is the head of the Senate Square. Magnificent church, it offers a pleasant view of the city at the top of the stairs. Today of Lutheran denomination, it was first consecrated to Saint Nicholas, patron saint of merchants and navigators. Like those in St. Isaac's Church in St. Petersburg, its four cardinal pediments are decorated with the twelve apostles cast in zinc. Its name, Tuomiokirkko "Great Church" dates back to 1959.

Du haut des escaliers pour arriver à l'église la vue est superbe. Cette église est magnifique de l’extérieure et très sobre à l’intérieur. Il est intéressant de visiter cette église luthérienne et l'église orthodoxe à quelques mètres, qui surplombent la ville dans des styles totalement différents.

Cathédrale imposante sur une belle place du Sénat très dégagée. L'intérieur est d'un grande sobriété avec un orgue imposant.

Beautiful square senate with in the middle of the cathedral Tuomiokirkko white and majestic but the interior is much darker.
Place du Sénat and the cathedral are the inevitable. There is just opposite the café Engel, the name of which the plans of the cathedral, where I but the best lathed Helsinki.
