Built in 1868, the Orthodox rite cathedral is a superb example of the Byzantine-Slavic style. From the esplanade, the view is breathtaking. It was built according to the plans of the architect A.M. Gornoschtaev. At the time, two distinct notables' cultures coexisted: Swedish-speaking Finns and Russian notables. As for the Finnish-speaking population, which was the majority, it gradually imposed its views at the end of the 19th century. It remains the most important Greek Orthodox church in Western Europe and is still standing.

La cathédrale Uspenski est très belle. Elle est situé en plein centre de la ville à côté du palais présidentiel. Je vous conseille de continuer votre visite le long des quais ensuite.

Belle cathédrale, un must dans la visite de la ville. Très originale, tant d'intérieur comme d'extérieur. Elle reflète bien le style ortodoxe russe. Belle vue depuis la terrasse. Respect et silence à l'intérieur.

Belle église richement décoré en plein coeur d'Helsinki! A visiter pour faire une comparaison avec sa soeur (pas jumelle) de la place du sénat!

Le style orthodoxe extérieur est reconnaissable et tranche avec la cathédrale luthérienne située à deux pas mais l'intérieur est époustouflant de richesse. Attention fermée le lundi.
