260 000 inhabitants. It was only in the mid th century that this city, to the east of Ukraine, was confronted by its ruins, caused by the Tatars in the th century. In the th century it even became the largest cossack fortress in the region. Legend says that residents, having found three gold bags in a tree, named the city under the souma Slavic word, which means "bag." The ravages of civil war and five-year Soviet plans have left a city ransacked. So it offers little interest today. We stop there to visit its churches and art museums.
