MUSEUM OF HISTORY DMYTRA YAVORNYTSKOHO (IСТОРИЧНИЙ IМ IСТОРИЧНИЙ. ЯВОРНИЦЬКОГО)

The city's most important museum, founded in 1849 in honour of Empress Catherine II. It presents an exciting retrospective of the country's history and displays some remains and objects of inestimable historical value. It is now named after Dmytro Yavornytsky, a famous Ukrainian ethnographer, archaeologist and historian who was for a long time the director of the museum. Just next to the museum, the diorama of the Second World War displays an 840 m² canvas showing the battle sites.
