280 000 inhabitants. This industrial city, formerly called Elisabethrad in honour of the Empress, owes its current name to a Communist leader of the October revolution. Kirovohrad has a chaotic past. Once invaded by Slavic tribes and scythians tribes, the city was also part of Russia's kiévienne. The Jewish community (a museum dedicated to it), once very important, was massively deported during the Second world war. Those who survived were then victims of repression. This city has no particular tourist interest. It will only interest travellers who want to immerse themselves in the Jewish memory of Ukraine.
