At the same time as the port town and agricultural centre of the region, the town of Chernomorskoye dates back to the time of the colonization of the Crimea by the Greeks (th century BC). At the time the town was called Kalos-Limenus, name which means "magnificent port". After the Greeks, the city went hand in hand, occupied by the Scythians and the Tatars. The Scythians settled in the Greek city, imposing the features of their architecture for the original plan and forming an important city for the time. But the time of the Scythians in Crimea is quickly over and nobody really came to take their place in Kalos-Limenus, which disappeared in the first century. During the Khanate Khanate, on the former location of Kalos-Limenus is founded a new town called Ak-Mechet. The peasants and then Russians used the walls as a step in the troupeaux of the herds. As Russia annex the Crimea in the th century, most of the Tatars fled to Turkey and the tsar offret land to its retired soldiers while Ukrainians are invited to restock Russia. After the tatar deportation in the Siberian camps in 1944, the town of Ak-Mechet is renamed Chernomorskoye. But archaeologists prefer her ancient name from Kalos-Limenus. Today you can visit the archaeological site of the old town of Kalos Limenos (the visit is free). Located on the seashore, the remains of Kalos-Limenus are very suggestive and are now subject to archaeological excavations.Chernomorskoye is 70 km west of Evpatoriya. It is possible to go here by boat from Yevpatoriya. The journey takes about 30 minutes, the boats depart from the Maritime maritime station. The alternative to the boat is the bus.
