This beautiful village on the edge of the river Rybnytsa is the ideal destination for lovers of traditional folklore. Here the houtsoul crafts come straight from the hills around, often on cart. A very nice market is held every Thursday and Saturday morning. Meat, cheese and local crafts of high quality in a picturesque setting will satisfy even the most demanding. The market takes place very early in the morning and we advise to go before 9 pm. Kosiv also houses every Year in August the Festival International de la musique Houtsoule with dances, songs and many local crafts. Beyond its cultural importance, Kosiv offers its visitors an enchanting natural setting. The village is located in the centre of the National Park of the Houtsoules region. Created in 2002, this park covers almost the region inhabited by houtsoules and covers villages. Rich in rivers and waterfalls in pure water and especially in old-age forests where the brown bear can be found, it is a real paradise for hiking and rafting, especially on the river Tcheremoch. Also known for waterfalls and Lake Lebedin 650 m high, near the village of Sheshory. From the village you can climb to the mountains and visit the polonyni, the summer pastures where the Houtsoules make their cheese.Kosiv is located 34 km south of Kolomyia. The best way to arrive at Kosiv is to take the bus from Kolomya (about 45 min) or a taxi.
