Huge installations dug in the 1970s to house the population of Kukës in the event of war. Can be visited.

This part of the city (Qyteti Nëntokësor në Kukës) should be explored with caution. When Kukës was built in the 1970s, the Communist authorities had a vast network of facilities dug down to a depth of 30 m to accommodate the population in the event of war: housing, warehouses, a hospital, a military base, and so on. Journalist Ermal Hallaçi offers a tour of some of the accessible parts of this dismal complex, abandoned since the fall of the regime.
