SHKODRA HISTORY MUSEUM

Founded in 1947, this museum (Muzeu Historik i Shkodrës) is housed in a handsome fortified building dating from 1815, which was the birthplace of local hero Oso Kuka (1820-1862) and the last Communist prime minister. Small archaeological collection on the first floor. Upstairs, traditional costumes and a lovely painting of Dy Rrugë ("Two Roads") by Kolë Idromeno in 1892. The main room, with its carved fireplace and wooden gallery, was reserved for the women of the house.
