Dream beach lovers, don't miss this one! La Playuela is one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico. It is accessible by going to the end of the road 301, as to reach the lighthouse of Cabo Rojo (Faro Los Amarillos). Nestled in a small wild bay, sheltered from the Caribbean Sea by dunes and a coral reef. The sand seems immaculate, and the water is turquoise like never before. There, we have the breath cut. To see at all costs!

PLAYA BUYÉ

Natural site to discover

And come on, another postcard beach! Shades of blue like in a dream, a peaceful and warm sea, a fine and soft white sand, a relaxed and family atmosphere.... Cabo Rojo is definitely the place to be in Puerto Rico to relax by the water. Just magical. The beach is accessible from the PR-307 road, taking the Camino Buye, a small road that runs along the ocean to Punta Guaniquilla. Again, if you want to be quiet, choose the early morning hours on weekends (before 11am) or during the week.

ISLAND OF RATONES - CAYO RATONES

Natural site to discover

This very small island is accessible by small boat from the Joyuda dock (RR-102, Km 13.8) or by kayak. Travelers usually spend one day there. It has a very nice little beach (unfortunately reduced by erosion), often very busy on weekends, when regulars come to visit with their personal boats. The water is clear and shallow, ideal for children's swimming and snorkeling.

SALINAS DE CABO ROJO

Natural site to discover

The salt flats of Cabo Rojo, pretty lagoons tinted pink, very photogenic, can be an interesting stop on the way to or from Los Morillos and La Playuela. The visitor center is located just in front of the observation tower that overlooks the salt flats. They are run by a non-profit entity; guided tours are given Thursday through Sunday. You will learn more about the history of this site and the extraction of salt that began here during the Taino era. It is also a major stop for migratory birds.
