After being out of commission for a few years, the astronomical observatory at the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao, was rehabilitated in 2019. It has a new 15-foot (4.5 m) diameter dome and a 14-inch (35 cm) Celestron EdgeHD telescope, as well as a completely renovated lecture hall. The Wednesday morning sessions focus on observing the sky and various visible stars during the day. On Thursday evening, the nighttime universe will be explored to see the Moon, other planets, nebulae and other galaxies.
