PUERTA DE SAN JUAN
Engineering structure
Recommended
The entrance to old San Juan is known as the Puerta de Aguas or Puerta de San Juan. It is made of wood and dates from the end of the 18th century. It is 4.8 meters high and 6 meters thick. It is one of the most famous and colorful entrances to the walled city. It leads to the romantic Paseo de la Princesa. On this emblematic door, as a testimony of the Catholic roots of the island, is inscribed "Benedictus Oui Venit In Nomine Domini", which translates as "Welcome to those who come in the name of God".
