CANTERAS DEL CERRO DE CARMELO

The granite from this quarry located 12 minutes from the center was used to build, among other things, a hundred buildings and streets in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. Nowadays, its stones are still exported, but at a lower level. The flooded quarry is nowadays frequented by diving schools and clubs that take advantage of its depth (about 30 meters) to practice decompression exercises. In summer, it also attracts some swimmers.
