A ten-suite tented lodge built on huge granite blocks in the 1920s British colonial style. Located in a 5,600 ha wilderness. The main attraction is the vastness of the surroundings and the sky changing colors throughout the day, from pastels to saturated colors with shades of pink, intense orange, blue or purple. From the reception room to the partially walled bathroom with vintage tubs to the private terrace, all tents emphasize the richness of the desert and impressive views with antiques that recall the explorer style.
Rooms
One-bedroom cabins
The eight one-bedroom huts are built in traditional Namibian style, with rounded corners and hand-finished thatched roofs. The design is simple and understated; the warm, deep colors evoke earth, sand and the natural environment. The interior is decorated with rare objects and precious antiques from African culture. The huts are spacious (60 m² inside) and feature a private 20 m² terrace with a magnificent view of the nearby "dam" (small lake) and the distant hills of the Khomas Hochland plateau.
The bedroom is equipped with a large double bed convertible into Hollywood twin beds, a desk, an armchair and a large dressing room. The bedroom and bathroom share a fireplace. The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, sound bar with Bluetooth connectivity and Wi-Fi connection. The cabins also feature a minibar, laptop safe, Nespresso machine and electric kettle. All rooms are fully air-conditioned. Bathrooms are spacious and comfortable, with a rain shower, separate toilet, double vanity unit and large bathtub offering stunning views. Guests will feel right at home in this wonderful place in the middle of the Savannah.
Two-bedroom homes
The two-bedroom huts have been designed for families or small groups. They offer ultra-modern comfort while retaining the authenticity of Namibian design and architecture. The warmth and strength of the colors, the originality of the furnishings and decor, every detail is a reminder of the richness of African culture. A thatched roof, hand-finished by local craftsmen, perfectly complements these rooms of traditional circular design. The spacious huts (120 m²) open onto a 26 m² terrace and are an ideal place to retreat to in peace and quiet, while observing superb sunsets or the wild animals roaming the nearby veldt.

Built on granite boulders, Sonop Camp is situated in a secluded and unspoiled 5,600 hectare wilderness setting.
Every item and antique in our ten spacious tents is carefully selected - binoculars and maps, travelogues, telescopes, antique desks and handmade stationery - to ensure that every moment becomes a unique experience. Everything from the reception room to the partially walled bathroom, antique bathtub and private terrace focuses on the richness and awe-inspiring views of the desert.
Capturing the restorative essence of the desert landscape with a spectacular outdoor infinity pool, spa, fitness center and daily yoga classes, the lodge truly integrates guests' well-being into the natural world. When desert adventure arrives, our guided tours include horseback riding from our own stables, private dune top dinners, electric fat bike or walking tours, hot air balloon rides and safaris. The hotel bases the decor on the theme of 1920's hunting safari. The rooms are spaced well apart from each other and the silence in the desert is "deafening".
The views cannot be translated into any photos as the beauty and splendour of them can only be experienced in person.
We spent last night star gazing and it is amazing how much more stars you see in the sky when there is no pollution.
The hotel staff are amazing, very friendly, always with a helping hand and generally attentive to all needs and wants. Very professional.
The rooms are clean and well organised with the tents themselves being very solid. The hotel does have a spa and a small gym as well as a pool literally in the desert
There are game drives including sundowners in the desert and horse trails.
The game is not so prevalent but you are in a desert, the landscape more than makes up for it. Definitely an awesome place to visit.
I’v been there for our honeymoon last may and we had a stunning exeperience there: service, food, acomodation, room, facilities… everything was perfect like in a dream.
I never had till now such a awsome experience in a hotel. A real 5 stars hotel!!!!
