Correct accommodation and food in a remarkable site in Gobabis, an orphanage for wild animals.

Harnas is a kind of orphanage for wild animals. You will find young lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, baboons, porcupines and many other species. The widely publicized foundation aims to restore the health of animals whose parents have been killed by hunters or injured by traps, or to care for injured animals. The accommodation and the cooking are correct without any further refinement, but that is not the interest of Harnas

Ich habe zum zweiten Mal das exklusive Volunteer Programm auf Harnas gemacht und es war wieder ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Ich finde es unfair, Harnas hier in einigen Kommentaren als Zoo zu bezeichnen, die Realität ist weit davon entfernt. Es ist eines der ältesten und besten Sanctuaries die ich je gesehen habe und die Sorgfalt und Liebe in der Versorgung der Tiere ist beispielhaft. Die Tiere und ihre Belange haben hier stets Vorrang, von "Money Making Machine" oder gar Streichelzoo für Touristen ist Harnas weit entfernt. Als exklusiv Volunteer übernimmt man normale Volunteer Aufgaben, hat jedoch deutlich komfortablere Unterkünfte und Essen im Restaurant. Die Arbeit für die Tiere ist unvergleichlich und es hat mir viel Spass gemacht dort 2 Wochen aktiv mitarbeiten zu dürfen. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, was ich nur empfehlen kann.

Campsite was sandy and stark although relatively close to reception and the bar where ostriches and tortoises roam. Visiting donkeys and baboons were an interesting wake-up in the campsite, despite the guard.

The morning feed and afternoon San Bushman Skills excursions were interesting and enjoyable.

Wir waren 4 Nächte auf dem Campingplatz der Foundation. Umgeben von Geparden, Pavianen und Löwen in Ohren Gehegen sowie Impalas, Kudus und Katzen (private Campingplatzkatze ????), die sehr nah kamen war es eine tolle Erfahrung.
Es werden Touren zur Tierfütterung oder zu den Sans angeboten.
Für uns ein entspannter Aufenthalt mit einigen Informationen zu den hier betreuten Tieren.

Tolle Camping Side mit verschiedensten Tieren hautnah. Jedoch sind mamch Tiere (z.B. die Affen) doch in einem sehr kleinen Gehege eingesperrt.
Das Personal war freundlich aber teilweise ein bisschen überfordert. Das Essen war sehr gut.
