From Gouré to Goudoumaria, 117 km to arrive in the Mangari region. Goudoumaria is a small village. It is accessible from the RN 1, by a small asphalt road (1 km) which goes north after the checkpoint. The zone to the south is called the Mandaram, derived from the name kanouri manda which means "salt". The dune relief is dotted with cultivated oases that emerge from the sands where the salt is extracted as well as natron, in a radius, from a few hundred meters to ten kilometres, which houses a lush oasis vegetation due to the proximity of the water table (between 50 cm and 1 m). Les Manga, which are Kanouri, still live for some of the extraction of natron and salt in these bowls, transported by truck, but most often on the backs of donkeys or by nomads toubou or fulani with their camels to Nigeria. The Manga, good farmers in the troughs, are also small ruminants. They are alongside the Éleveurs farmers, who will transhument in particular during the rainy season in this area. The oases, like Fajimiram, are true islands of palms palms surrounded by dune belts. This small area is ideal for two or more days of horseback riding (get to know Goudoumaria at Ado, very nice). If you are a 4 x 4 car, access to oasis is possible but requires a lot of driving experience in the dunes. Count in the area a whole day by car, and why not, if it is on your road, one night on the dunes bordering the oasis. In all cases, it is better to have a experienced guide and driver.
