Travel Guide Tessaoua

It is a city on the Maradi-Zinder axis known for its kilichi that you can see dry on the butchers'stands: these are pieces of dry meat with red pepper, it's strong but very tasty. It was in Dankori, close to Tessaoua, that on 14 July 1899, a historic drama became noua. Colonel Klobb came from Kayes to Mali on Paris orders to punish Voulet and Canon, the heads of the bloody mission, was killed on the coup. Voulet and Canon fled, soon captured and executed by their African soldiers. Their graves visit a great acacia albida in the village of Maïjirgui, a few kilometres east of Tessaoua.
