To get there, some kilometres south of Maradi, the trail crosses a wooded area for the region (large acacias and nérés can even allow small honey production). This large village is set on the edge of a pond jonzac (carp and silures). Today, the head of water governing the lake fishery is a marabout who was a member of the water masters, in a hereditary relationship with the water goddess who was regularly offered sacrifices. Fishing shall be carried out using nets, canoes, traps, lines and gourds which shall act as float: The fisherman is plat on the calabash to move in shallow water. This fishing is also practised in the pond of Tapkin Uwa, west of Tibiri, village 10 km from Maradi, from Niamey. A little more south-west, on the border of Nigeria, in the locality of Babanrafi after the village of Gabi, a decade ago, a herd of elephants dying the border to the great displeasure of villagers: indeed, the elephants were wreaking havoc in the fields and in the carnage in the villages.
