UPPER CARAVANSARY

Two caravanserais, on the five of the city of its splendour, are still standing today.
The upper caravanserai, closest to the fortress, covers an area of 6 000 m ², on a slightly sloping terrain above the river. The façade on the street is on three floors, which gives an idea of the importance of the building. It is also constructed in pink bricks, which distinguishes it from caravanserais from the rest of the country, usually built in ochre stone. There is a large sculpted porch, which opens onto an impressive coupole dome. This large caravanserai of 300 cells today became the Hotel Karavansaray.
