Uzbektourism has been hard at work renovating the former Khorezm Hotel. The U-shaped plan of the hotel has been closed by a huge glass façade, an inground swimming pool in the centre, and all the rooms have been redone in the European style. The first large luxury hotel in the whole region, but lacking in character. There is an ATM in the lobby that dispenses dollars. It always accommodates large groups of tourists, when they are too large to stay in Khiva's guesthouses.
