HÔTEL OUZBÉKISTAN
A gigantic machine, this hotel is one of the oldest in Tashkent. Built between 1974 and 1976 by Russian architects, it has become one of the symbols of the city, right in the center, overlooking Amur Timur Square. For two decades, its astonishing architecture welcomed all visitors to Uzbekistan, as well as celebrities such as Marcello Mastroianni, Pierre Richard and Sukarno. The entire complex has been completely renovated, with uneven results from room to room, but on the whole it's a pleasant place to stay. Restaurant and bar on site.
