LIANA BRIDGES

The liana bridges are still numerous in the region. In addition to their purely practical side, they have a magical character, because they are built at night by secret societies composed only of men, according to jealously guarded ancestral rites. The lianas, all coming from the surrounding forests, are subject to bad weather and wear out quickly; therefore, the bridges must be repaired very regularly. Unfortunately, as secret societies tend to disappear, these bridges are likely to be abandoned to the wear and tear of time and to disappear.
