THE WELL OF SARAN

Samory's favorite wife seems to have lived in Kérouané. The pond, which is currently hidden from view by a surrounding wall on which is inscribed Saranken Kolon ("the well of Saran the beautiful"), would originally have been the well that allowed her to water her gardens. This place is not very distant from the ruins of the Tata of Samory. To enter, one must ask the guardian, a distant descendant, who will open the door. The whole space is occupied by a small pond covered with water lilies, where a few "sacred" catfish swim quietly.
