Located 70 km from Forécariah, Benty was originally a slave port that enjoyed a certain prosperity thanks to the slave trade. In the 1950s, it became a banana port. The planters of the region, having understood the benefits of banana exports, used the port facilities. With the advent of theFirst Republic and the nationalization of private plantations, activities declined rapidly. Today, the port could rise from its ashes by becoming a mineral port, especially for the export of iron ore.
