PORT DE BENTY

Located 70 km from Forécariah, Benty was originally a slave port that enjoyed a certain prosperity thanks to the slave trade. In the 1950s, it became a banana port. The planters of the region, having understood the benefits of banana exports, used the port facilities. With the advent of the^First Republic and the nationalization of private plantations, activities declined rapidly. Today, the port could rise from its ashes by becoming a mineral port, especially for the export of iron ore.
