FRANCISCAN CHURCH

Located to the south of the Rynek, this church dates back to the first half of the ^14th century and was subsequently modified on several occasions, including by the addition of an evangelist temple. This superb Gothic chapel, named after Saint Anne, is home to the mausoleum of the Piasts of Opole, whose family tree can be seen painted on the walls, who ruled the ducal capital and its principality from the ^12th to the ^mid-16th century. From this ruling family, fourteen princes and duchesses of these lands found eternal rest here.
