CASTLE OF ŁAŃCUT (ZAMEK V ŁAŃCUCIE)
Łańcut Castle is one of the most beautiful aristocratic residences in Poland. In the early 17th century, Stanisław Lubomirski commissioned a Baroque residential palace, surrounded by a system of fortifications. In the 18th century, Princess Izabella Lubomirska, a cultured woman, had the interiors refurbished in Rococo style. At the end of the 19th century, Roman Potocki invited Italian, French and Viennese architects to give the palace a romantic touch by adding stables and an orangery and installing running water and electricity. After these changes and modernizations, the Łańcut palace-park complex became one of the most luxurious residences in continental Europe. Archdukes Rudolf and Franz Ferdinand often came here! Since the end of World War II, the palace has been a museum dedicated to the interiors of Polish palaces and, in addition to the collection of objects from the palace (beautiful clocks and earthenware stoves), presents works that come from all over the country.
The stables now house the Carriage Museum with an almost unique collection of 19th-20th century vehicles from Paris, Vienna, London and Warsaw. In the 19th century, it took 17 days by stagecoach to get from Łancut Palace to Paris. The opening hours are the same as those of the palace.
After the visit, you can walk in the English-style park, along its alleys planted with centuries-old chestnut and beech trees.
