CASTLE OF KAZIMIR

The present castle was built, you guessed it, by the unforgettable Casimir the Great, who is definitely present everywhere in the architecture of the country, in 1340 on a hill overlooking the city. In reality, it was built on an older complex dating from 1018 erected by the Polish king Bolesław I Chrobry (the Valiant), whose Romanesque stone rotunda shape and palatial complex can still be found in the residential body of the present castle. Renovated in the 16th century in Renaissance style, it was largely destroyed later and to this day houses a theater.
