This cable car connects the center of Zakopane to the top of Gubałówka Hill, 1,298 m in three minutes, with a 300 m difference in level. It feels a bit like cheating as you watch the groups of hikers struggle up the escarpments that you effortlessly fly over, but at the same time, not everyone has the energy, desire or physical fitness to make the three-hour climb and risk missing the sunset over the mountains.

The bus station is located right next to the train station. The bus is a good way to get to Zakopane from Krakow. Several lines connect the city at regular times for a journey of around 3 hours, if you count the systematic traffic jams on the approach to the city. City buses serve almost all the starting points for Tatra hikes: visit the tourist office in the train station.
