Poles love ice cream, and Krakow's people even more so. They form queues sometimes until November in front of the city's ice cream parlors, as long as a ray of sunshine warms the streets. It's not easy to get the best ice cream in Krakow, especially if you're in Nowa Huta, far from the crowds and the competition. However, this is what happens, Lodowa is the undisputed king of ice cream shops and in summer it is a real hit: the queue that settles in is a direct reminder of the sad days of the socialist republics.
