The date of the start of construction of the parish church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kołobrzeg is not precisely known. It is thought that the town's main temple was built in the early 14th century on the site of the former St. Peter's Church. Badly damaged during the Second World War, it was rebuilt fairly well afterwards. Inside, it preserves many objects and works of art from the period that have been restored or miraculously spared.
