Located in the 14th-century Gothic castle, the residence of the Dukes of Pomerania, which they occupied until the end of the Thirty Years' War, is the only building of its kind on the Baltic coast in the region. Today, it presents visitors with a collection of furniture and portraits of civil and religious art from the region, as well as a fine collection of armor. A pleasant visit, but not the most memorable.

C'était la période du règne du Duc Bogusław V et Elżbieta, la fille de Casimir le Grand.
Le château gothique original, situé dans la partie sud de la ville, a été fondé sur un plan semblable à un carré avec des dimensions 32 x 34 mètres.
La cour était entourée d'un mur défensif d'environ 14 mètres de haut.
Le premier dirigeant qui a modernisé le système de défense était le prince Eryk I Pomorski.En 1449-59, le prince a construit l'aile ouest.
Autour de l'année 1480, le prince Bogusław X a fait une autre extension du château. L'aile ouest construite par Eryk a été démolie.
De l'extérieur, sur toute la longueur du mur d'enceinte ouest, une nouvelle aile de trois étages a été ajoutée.
Sous le règne du prince Barnim XI, l'aile est et la tour ont été agrandies par deux étages.
