Built in 1253 on the banks of the Vistula, Toruń Castle was the seat of Teutonic authority. Now in ruins, its remains are scattered across a green area encircled by ancient ramparts, with the pits and a well-preserved lower section. The Gdanisko tower, in particular, offers an impressive view of the ancient fortress. Cultural events are sometimes held in the cellars of the complex, which have remained intact.
