The longest church in Poland (107 m) was founded in 1186 by Cistercian monks invited from Denmark by Duke Sambor I of Pomerania. Destroyed and rebuilt many times during its history, it was in the 18th century that the church experienced its golden age. In 1925, it was elevated to the status of a cathedral. The jewel in the church's crown is its magnificent carved wooden organ, an extraordinary instrument built between 1763 and 1788 by the young organist Jan Wulf.
