Augustów is a town in the Podlaskie voivodeship in northeastern Poland. This border town has undergone several changes of sovereignty over the course of its history, passing from Lithuania to Poland, then to Prussia and finally to Russia. Augustów is famous for its canal, the Augustów Canal, and has been served by rail since 1899. The city had a population of around 30,728 in 2013.
