The Sainte-Virgin-Marie Church is a neo-Gothic style and its interiors, adorned with altars, stained glass windows, style organs, have a classified painting from the old church. In fact, it was built the first parish Church of Łodź in the 22nd century, but was then transferred to Ogrodowa Street (at number).

La première mention de son existence remonte à 1414. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, les Allemands ont changé son nom en Kirchplatz.
La place Kościelny était le centre agricole de Łódź.
Lorsque la ville a commencé à grandir comme une ville industrielle ella a perdu son importance à la Place de la Nouvelle Ville, ou plus tard, la Place Tadeusz Kościuszko.
L'histoire de Plac Kościelny est inséparablement liée à l'histoire de l'église qui s'y trouve de l'Assomption de la Bienheureuse Vierge Marie.
Les origines de cette paroisse et du temple remontent au 14ème siècle.
On suppose qu'il a été érigé entre 1364 et 1371 par l'archevêque de Gniezno, Jarosław Bogoria Skotnicki, et jusqu'en 1885 il était la seule paroisse de Lodz.
Il comprenait des villages tels que Bałuty, Doły ou Radogoszcz.
